Chloe Louie Castillo - Culinary (Philippines)
1. Why did you choose to complete an Internship?
I do believe that in order to acquire knowledge and skills is through undertaking a proper training. I have decided to pursue and finish this internship because I know it will lead me achieve my dreams of being a qualified chef to higher promotional chef in the future. It’s important to explore and experience new things from what you used to do, and what you already know. I undergone my training in USA, work in a Catering Services back in the Philippines and now undertaking another training to learn and experience Australia through its Cuisine and Culture that will help to expand my overall ability as a chef.
2. What have you learn the most during your internship?
I have learned how to engage myself to the environment I have chosen. Delegation and initiative to learn, being punctual and take responsibility on every tasks given with team work, good communication, organization and being detail oriented. Learning and managing the lunch service in a Fine Dining Restaurant by myself with minimal supervision and having a harmonious relationship to everyone.
3. What benefits do you feel AI contributed to your Internship and time in Australia?
AI and personal IPS has given a big part on this training. Being often in touch though emails, evaluation and moral support is enough to feel the support and motivation to do my very best while I am here in Australia. Friendly.
4. What advice would you give to future interns?
To those aspiring interns who wants to achieve this program, take this platform seriously and love what you are doing because being a Chef is not easy and it requires a huge skills and experience in order to succeed. Focus, willingness and perseverance will help you to enjoy this thought job.
5. What do you enjoy most about Australia?
I had been deployed in such a remote area, very far from the city and place I used to lived and work. It is very hard and requires big adjustments to everything but once you overcome all the fear and hindrances you will be able to love the place and enjoy. I loved the scenery, beaches, and rock formations which is picture perfect, relaxing and peaceful. Knowing people differences and make friends is also important.
